Electric Landscape Equipment Demonstration Day in Santa Maria / Orcutt
APCD Co-hosting Free Event for Commercial Users of Landscape Equipment
SANTA MARIA, Calif. — Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) is excited to announce an electric landscape equipment demonstration day:
WHEN: October 3, 11AM – 2PM
WHERE: Orcutt Babe Ruth Fields, 3400 Auto Park Drive in Santa Maria
The event is co-hosted with Oak Knolls Hardware, located in Orcutt, and will support the third year of APCD’s Landscape Equipment Electrification Fund (LEEF) program. Commercial-grade users are encouraged to attend the event to test powerful electric equipment from eight different manufacturers and apply for grant program funds.
The LEEF incentive program is available to businesses, public agencies, nonprofit organizations, and schools who trade in gasoline landscape equipment and purchase electric-powered equipment. Funds will be available until November 3, 2023.
Eligible organizations can receive incentives up to the following for each trade-in:
- $700 for chainsaws, trimmers, edgers, and brushcutters;
- $1,400 for leaf blowers and vacuums;
- $1,500 for walk-behind lawn mowers; and
- $15,000 for ride-on and stand/sit mowers.
Starting in 2024, a state regulation takes effect that will restrict the manufacturing of new gasoline landscape equipment throughout California. Although the use of existing gasoline-powered equipment will still be allowed, the October 3 event and program is a great opportunity to learn more about electric landscape equipment and take advantage of grant funds while they last. Any organization that uses landscaping equipment is encouraged to attend the October 3 event.
