On August 16, Governor Gavin Newsom declared a State of Emergency and associated Executive Order related to the current Extreme Heat Event. The District is aware of requests from electric utility providers to conserve energy, in some cases encouraging customers to use all available onsite back-up generation during the hours of 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Consistent with the Executive Order signed by Governor Newsom, all use of permitted emergency standby generators in response to the extreme heat Event may be treated as “emergency use” until 11:59 p.m. on August 20, 2020, and is unlimited by your District permit.
If you choose to operate your emergency generator in response to the Extreme Heat Event, please be sure to follow all recordkeeping requirements specified in your District permit. If you have any questions, please contact the District Engineering Division at [email protected].
