The Hearing Board Nominating Committee is a standing committee which consists of five members of the Board of Directors, with a representative from each supervisorial district.  Appointments are made at the beginning of each calendar year.

The purpose of the Hearing Board Nominating Committee is to make nominations for appointments to the APCD Hearing Board.  Final decisions of Hearing Board appointments are made by the full Board.  The Hearing Board Nominating Committee meets on an as-needed basis.  The resolution establishing the committee can be found here.

Persons may address the Hearing Board Nominating Committee on any matter listed on the agenda.  Matters not listed on the agenda may be addressed at the public comment period at the beginning of the meeting. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, individuals needing special accommodations to participate in the meeting should contact the Santa Barbara County APCD at least three working days prior to the scheduled meeting.

Per guidance of California Department of Public Health and the California Governor’s Stay at Home Executive Order N-33-20 issued on March 19, 2020 to protect the health and well-being of all Californians and to establish consistency across the state in order to slow the spread of COVID-19, the District Hearing Board Nominating Committee will temporarily no longer provide in-person participation.

Members of the public may address the Committee on any matter listed on the agenda. Matters not listed on the agenda may be addressed during the public comment period of the meeting. Comments timely received on an agenda item will be placed into the record and distributed accordingly. If you wish to make a general public comment or to comment on a specific agenda item, the following methods are available:

  • Distribution to the Board. Submit comments no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 via email to [email protected], or mail to APCD Clerk of the Board at 260 North San Antonio Road, Suite A, Santa Barbara, CA 93110. Your comment will be placed into the record and distributed appropriately.
  • Read into the record at the meeting. Submit comments of 250 words, or less, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, via email to [email protected], or mail to APCD Clerk of the Board at 260 North San Antonio Road, Suite A, Santa Barbara, CA 93110. Please state in your correspondence that you would like your comment “read into the record.” Every effort will be made to read your comment into the record, though some comments may not be read due to time limitations.
  • By telephone. Submit your telephone number and indicate if you would like to make a general public comment, a comment on a specific agenda item, or both, via email to [email protected]. APCD Clerk of the Board will make every effort to call you during the indicated item so that you may comment.

Additional information can be obtained on the District website at: https://www.ourair.org/hb-nominating-committee/.  Any disclosable public records related to an open session item on a regular meeting agenda and distributed by the Clerk to all or a majority of the members less than 72 hours prior to that meeting are available for inspection in the District office or website.
