2019 Marine Shipping Program Results

SANTA BARBARA CHANNEL REGION and SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, Calif. — The partners in an initiative to cut air pollution and protect endangered whales announced results from the 2019 program and recognized the 15 shipping companies that participated, reducing speeds to 10 knots or less in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Santa Barbara Channel region. The voluntary incentive program ran May 15, 2019 through November 15, 2019. Partners hope to further recognize the companies at a ceremony at the Port of Hueneme later this year, depending on public health guidelines regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

TRAK Environmental Group, Inc. and Ecotech Environmental Corp. have applied to the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (District) for a permit to operate a High Vacuum Dual Phase Extraction (HVDPE) system with carbon adsorption controls to remediate contaminated soil at a former printer processing facility located at 526 Laguna Street in Santa Barbara. SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. — In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) is not accepting any walk-in visitors at its Santa Barbara and Santa Maria offices. APCD To Launch Voluntary Electric Landscape Equipment Program March 4

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. — Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) is excited to announce a new program to encourage businesses, public agencies, and schools to use electric-powered landscaping equipment. Beginning on March 4, up to $100,000 is available for the Landscape Equipment Electrification Fund (LEEF) pilot program to provide vouchers covering up to 60 percent of the cost for eligible landscape equipment and up to 100 percent of the cost for additional batteries and chargers for equipment purchased through the program, up to a maximum of $10,000 per organization. Commercial landscaping businesses — as well as public agencies and public and private schools and universities that perform their own landscape maintenance — are eligible for the program. Individual homeowners are not eligible to apply.
