Regional Electric Drive 805 Coalition Launches

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (District), along with the Air Pollution Control Districts of San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties, Community Environmental Council (CEC), the Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition (C5), and Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance (VCREA) are teaming up to launch “Electric Drive 805.” This new coalition of local government agencies and non-profits will lead local efforts to increase access to affordable electric vehicles.

Notice of Public Review and Request for Comments

The Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (District) has made a preliminary decision to approve emission reduction credits for the Point Arguello Pipeline Company (PAPCO). An emission reduction credit is earned by a company when it reduces air emissions beyond what is required by permits and rules or when a facility shuts down. Public Notice

State law (Health and Safety Code Section 40923) requires the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (District) to publish a list of regulatory measures scheduled for consideration each year. These regulatory measures, or rules and regulations, are adopted in order to reduce air pollution in Santa Barbara County. Air quality rules and regulations that may be adopted or amended during 2019 are listed below. Other measures may be proposed for adoption per the criteria specified in Section 40923 of the Health and Safety Code. Before the adoption or amendment or any regulatory measure, the District publishes a notice in a local newspaper and holds a public hearing to accept comments from affected businesses and other interested parties.

Burn Program Changes Launched Today

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – The Santa Barbara County Fire Department and Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District announced changes that will go into effect today affecting permitted pile burns. Pile burns are permitted by the County Fire Department and fall into three categories: Agricultural, Hazard Reduction, and Residential Backyard. Permitted pile burns are different from prescribed burns; prescribed burns involve standing vegetation and are performed by land managers, including fire agencies.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District and Santa Barbara County Public Health Department encourage Santa Barbara County residents to be alert to air quality conditions over the weekend. Smoke from the Woolsey and Hill fires in Ventura County and the Camp Fire in Butte County has the potential to start affecting our area, depending on wind and weather conditions.
