Watt Training Burns to Occur at VSFB in June

The Vandenberg Space Force Base (SFB) Fire Department will conduct a series of small, controlled burns for training purposes between June 1 and June 30. The goal of these burns is to train newly assigned firefighters and dozer operators in combating wildland fires. Prescribed burns typically burn less intensely than wildfires.

Red Tail Multifamily Land Development, LLC has applied to the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (District) for a permit to excavate and remediate approximately 1,750 cubic yards of arsenic impacted soil as part of a housing development project located at 125 S. San Marcos Road in Santa Barbara. The impacted soil will be excavated and loaded on trucks for transportation offsite to a State-approved disposal facility. The project site is located within 1,000 feet of El Camino Elementary School and San Marcos High School.
