SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — In recognition of September as National Preparedness Month, Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) and Santa Barbara County Public Health Department encourage Santa Barbara County residents to plan for poor air quality conditions caused by future wildfire smoke. The smoke and ash from wildfires is made up of very small particles known as particulate matter, or PM. These particles can harm respiratory and cardiovascular systems, and children, seniors, pregnant women, and people with medical conditions are especially sensitive.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (District) is recruiting to fill one position on the District Hearing Board. The Hearing Board is a five-member quasi-judicial body that makes determinations on permit appeals and variances from local District rules and regulations, and considers requests for permit revocations and abatement orders. The current opening is for the medical profession (with specialized skills, training, or interests in the fields of environmental medicine, community medicine, or occupational/toxicological medicine).
