Central Coast Celebrates Its First Hydrogen Fueling Station

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District and Community Environmental Council — along with dozens of supporters and 10 hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles of different makes and models — celebrated the opening of True Zero’s Santa Barbara hydrogen fueling station on Friday, May 13. Supporters include True Zero, California Air Resources Board, California Energy Commission, California Fuel Cell Partnership, Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition, California Governor’s Office, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, and Conserv Fuel.

Celebrate Air Quality Awareness Week 2016

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Air Quality Awareness Week starts today, and the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District has clean-air tips to share. Cars and trucks are a major source of smog-forming emissions in our county. “The biggest thing we can do to help reduce smog is to drive less. When we can walk, bike, or take the bus instead of driving, that can make a big difference for air quality,” said Aeron Arlin Genet, District Director and Air Pollution Control Officer. “When we do need to use our cars, there are steps we can take to ensure that our cars are polluting less.”

Public Notice

State law (Health and Safety Code Section 40923) requires the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (District) to publish a list of regulatory measures scheduled for consideration during each year.  These regulatory measures, or rules and regulations, are adopted in order to reduce air pollution in Santa Barbara County.  Air quality rules and regulations that may be adopted or amended during 2016 are listed below.  Other measures may be proposed for adoption per the criteria specified in Section 40923 of the Health and Safety Code.  Before the adoption or amendment of any regulatory measure, the District publishes a notice in a local newspaper and holds a hearing to accept comments from affected businesses and other interested parties.

Aeron Arlin Genet Appointed New District Director

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District announced today that Aeron Arlin Genet will be the new District Director and Air Pollution Control Officer. The District Board of Directors approved her appointment with a unanimous vote at the meeting today. The appointment is the culmination of a search and recruiting process that began in July 2015. Arlin Genet is expected to start as the new Director of the agency on January 21, 2016, following the January Board meeting.
